Where to Apply for a Global Talent Visa
The official rule set by the (Home Office) Ministry of the Interior states that you can apply from any country if you have a residence permit in that country for at least 6 months.
However, in our recent Global Talent case, the UK Visas and Immigration Authority suggested that in order to obtain a Global Talent visa, an applicant only needs permission to be in the country from which they are applying for the duration of the application. They are not required to be residents of that country if the applicant is legally in the country.
As such, we have precedent that can be relied upon that allows low-risk applications to be made outside of the applicant’s country of residence. Please note that the risk of refusal remains, since this answer from the Home Office is not a regulation and it is better to apply from the country in which you have a temporary residence for at least half a year.
