Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme: A Complex Case Successfully Resolved Without Original Documents

We are pleased to share a successful outcome in a complex matter handled by Tetiana Deren and Daria Kotkova, where our client was granted further leave to remain in the United Kingdom under the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme.

While applications under the Ukraine schemes are often perceived as straightforward, this case demonstrates that they can present significant challenges – particularly where key documentation is missing.

    The Background

Our client approached us in a difficult position. Having previously resided in the United Kingdom under the Ukraine Scheme, he sought to extend his stay under the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme.

However, at the time of instruction, the client was not in possession of any original identity documents. His passport, BRP, driving licence, and other identification documents had been lost. Only copies of these documents were available.

This created immediate evidential and procedural challenges, particularly in establishing identity and progressing through the standard Home Office application and biometric requirements.

    Our Approach

Despite the absence of original documents, our team carefully assessed the available evidence and identified a viable strategy to proceed. Particular care was taken to present the application in a clear and structured manner, addressing any potential concerns the Home Office may have had in relation to identity and documentation.

    The Outcome

Despite the complexities, the application was successfully submitted, biometrics were enrolled, and the client was granted permission to remain under the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme.

This outcome demonstrates that even in challenging circumstances, a well-prepared application can succeed.

This case highlights an important point: the absence of original documents does not necessarily prevent a successful immigration application.

While documentation is a key component of any application, there are circumstances in which alternative evidence and properly prepared legal representations can overcome such difficulties.

    Do You Have Missing Documents?

If you do not have access to your original documents, it does not mean that your immigration options are closed.

At Sterling Law, we regularly assist clients in complex situations, including where documents have been lost or are unavailable. We assess each case on its individual merits and develop tailored strategies to achieve the best possible outcome.

If you are in a similar situation or require advice on a Ukraine Scheme application or any other immigration matter, our team is here to assist.
