Successful Outcome at Stage 2 for Global Talent Visa
Recently, we shared the success of one of our clients, a fintech professional, who received endorsement from Tech Nation at Stage 1 for the Global Talent Visa. Today, we are excited to announce that last week we completed the case for another client, and she has now successfully obtained her Global Talent Visa, having successfully passed both stages.
What are Stage 1 and Stage 2?
The process of applying for the Global Talent Visa is divided into two stages:
- Stage 1 (Endorsement) – At this stage, the main focus is on your career, achievements, and expertise in your chosen field. To receive an endorsement, it is important to present a strong portfolio showcasing your unique skills and significant achievements at an international level. The applicant must receive an endorsement from a recognised body, and for the tech sector, this is Tech Nation.
- Stage 2 (Immigration Visa) – After successfully passing Stage 1, the visa application process begins. This stage involves careful planning of your visa route, and it plays a crucial role in how you will start your journey toward permanent residence in the UK.
What to focus on at each stage?
- Stage 1: Particular attention should be paid to your professional reputation and evidence of your achievements. Preparing a quality portfolio with recommendations from industry leaders and detailed descriptions of your projects is key to obtaining the endorsement.
- Stage 2: At this stage, it is important to carefully plan your visa route and clarify how your further stay and work in the UK will proceed. This stage opens the door to permanent residence (ILR), and at this point, you can start thinking about how to expedite this process.
Global Talent Visa Application Costs
The application process for the Global Talent Visa is split into two parts, each of which is paid for in stages:
- Stage 1: The current cost for endorsement is £524.
- Stage 2: The immigration visa fee at this stage is £192.
In addition, you should take into account the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), which is charged separately for the applicant and each dependent family member. This fee is £1,035 per year per person. The total cost of the visa and IHS for family members (dependents) is also paid at Stage 2. Thus, in order to find out if you can get a Global Talent Visa, you will need to spend £524 to be able to submit an application for endorsement.
Interesting Fact: Combining Global Talent and Skilled Worker
Did you know that the Global Talent Visa can be combined with the Skilled Worker Visa to expedite the process of obtaining permanent residence (ILR)? For example, our client had been in the UK on a Skilled Worker Visa for two years. By switching to the Global Talent Visa, she now needs just one additional year to qualify for ILR. However, it is important to remember that for family members, the residency period for ILR is 5 years as your dependent, either on a Skilled Worker Visa or Global Talent Visa, or a combination of both.
