We are proud to share the story of our client’s, a talented UI/UX Designer, path to receiving a Global Talent endorsement. This success story serves as an inspiration to Global Talent applicants, showing that even an initial rejection can lead to eventual success with determination and perseverance.
Our client’s background
Our client first reached out to our immigration lawyers earlier this year, when she was seeking assistance with preparing an application for an endorsement from Tech Nation on the Promise route. As a Promise candidate, she was still early in her career, but has already worked with one of the top EdTech companies worldwide, and has been very active in the Product Design community. Her list of projects was extensive and varied: she has worked on the UI/UX design for an EdTech platform, a FinTech app, and a non-profit website, and has also worked on her personal HealthTech apps, as well as contributed to an academic paper, and has published dozens of articles about her field as well as running her own YouTube channel.
Initial refusal
We carefully prepared her application, ensuring all of her achievements are highlighted and tailored to the strict Tech Nation criteria. However, to our disappointment, we were initially faced with a refusal from Tech Nation, even after submitting an endorsement review. The Assessment Panel stated that the Applicant’s achievements were not significant enough, and did not grant her any of the three submitted criteria. Nevertheless, we were not discouraged: our team and our client herself knew that she had real potential, and we just needed to make the endorsing body see that.
Second application
Therefore, we embarked on preparing the second endorsement application. In the few months following the first application, our client continued to be active in the tech community and was therefore able to bring in some new supporting evidence that could be used to strengthen her application, such as new media recognition and voluntary design projects. She was also receiving significantly more attention on her blogs and YouTube channel, so her audience engagement metrics could be updated.
As well as this, our team carefully analysed her previous refusals and tailored her new application accordingly, taking into account all points raised by the endorsing body. We also redrafted her letters of support, ensuring all of her achievements were showcased in the best light.
Success
The result? An unequivocal endorsement from Tech Nation! Our client was endorsed on all three criteria, and will now be able to apply for the Stage 2 Global talent visa. Fulfilling her life-long dream, she will now be able to stay in the UK and build her Product Design career here. As a potential leader, she is poised to make significant contributions to EdTech and HealthTech, with the freedom of starting her own business, collaborating with universities or tech startups, and growing her own platform all without the need for a visa sponsorship. In 5 years, she will be able to apply for a settlement (ILR).
