From Pre-Settled to Settled: Securing Status for Young Applicants

16.05.2025
We’re pleased to share another positive outcome: two young clients have now secured EU Settled Status, cementing their right to live, study and work in the UK indefinitely.
Client Background and Challenges
Originally granted Pre-Settled Status in 2019, both children lacked conventional proofs of address—no utility bills or tax documents in their names—and needed to demonstrate strong ties to the UK despite their minor status. When the Home Office requested further evidence after our initial submission, sourcing appropriate paperwork for under-18s proved particularly tricky.
Our Approach
We guided the parents on gathering alternative documentation—school enrollment letters, child benefit statements and GP registration confirmations—and drafted a detailed response to explain how each piece of new evidence satisfied residence requirements. This comprehensive package pre-empted additional queries and clarified their continuous UK presence.
Outcome and Next Steps
The Home Office approved Settled Status for both applicants. They can now move forward with applying for registration as British citizens, opening doors to full civic participation.
